My new career as a photographer

Well, in a haven't-actually-given-up-my-real-job kind of way.

Did a photoshoot for Nigel of Bermondsey the other week. He's pleased with the photos, which I'm delighted about. Below are a couple of my favourites. And here's the link to the rest www.flickr.com/whatkathydid

One Eye Grey at Brockwell Lido

One Eye Grey, a penny dreadful for the 21st century, held an evening of ghost stories by the water last night at Brockwell Lido, near Brixton in South London.

We drank mulled wine and ate roast pumpkin by the poolside as Chris, the guy who runs One Eye Grey, told tales of spooky happenings in London's under- and overground rivers. The waist-high Roman Legionnaires haunting walkers on Fleet St, built over the Fleet River, was a favourite.

Nigel of Bermondsey and (some of) his London Dreamtime, including me, provided the musical element of the evening, and a drunk woman asked him if he could "do Elvis".

Here are a couple of pics.

music makes happy

Had a wonderful afternoon playing to a crowd of relaxed sun-warmed Brick Laners with Nigel of Bermondsey this afternoon.

I realised that making music that sounds lovely is important to me. And Nigel's music is that, particularly with Tamara's added harmonies.

The weather is stunningly beautiful. A buttery glow glides over every surface. It feels like a remembered late summer from childhood.

Nigel of Bermondsey in Southwark Park

Played the motorised accordion with Nigel of Bermondsey in Southwark Park yesterday, supporting the Blockheads. Despite the peristent drizzle it was great craic, as F might say.

There was plenty of Great British Spirit around - here's a pic of some local people determindly enjoying themselves.

Nigel of Bermondsey played his new single - an ace cover of "This is how it feels" by the Inspiral Carpets. Check out the video on Youtube here.

A piece of music trivia for Madchester fans: heard Clint Boon of the Inspirals talking about the song on XFM . He said he wrote it because he felt so awful about being unfaithful to a long term girlfriend, so the chorus is "this is how it feels to be lonely, this is how it feels to be small, this is how it feels when your WORD [my emphasis] means nothing at all". I always thought it was "when your world means nothing at all".

Beautiful gardens at Southwark Park too.
